AI, HCI, and Learning Sciences for Next-Generation Educational Interfaces

Advances in generative AI, multimodal interaction, and immersive technologies are rapidly expanding how people learn, teach, and collaborate. These developments create new opportunities to design learning experiences that are more interactive, personalized, and context-aware than ever before. At the same time, fully realizing this potential requires closer integration across AI, HCI, and the learning sciences. AI advances powerful models and capabilities, HCI brings expertise in human-centered design, and the learning sciences provide critical insights into how people learn, yet these perspectives are often developed separately rather than together. Bridging these areas opens up exciting possibilities for creating learning technologies that are not only powerful but also usable, meaningful, and grounded in authentic educational contexts.

This workshop brings these communities together to explore how next-generation learning interfaces can be designed and evaluated by integrating AI capabilities, human-centered interaction design, and pedagogical insight. We also aim to address challenges in cross-disciplinary communication, where differences in terminology, methods, and evaluation practices can hinder collaboration, by fostering shared understanding and dialogue across fields. We further aim to surface key challenges in AI-supported learning and encourage submissions that bridge disciplines and explore novel approaches to design, interaction, and evaluation.
